Continuous Security

Pentest as a Service (PTaaS): Continuous Penetration Testing

Why Annual Pentesting Falls Short

A traditional penetration test captures a single moment. Between annual assessments, code ships, configurations change, and findings age untested.

Who PTaaS Is For

  • SaaS companies with frequent deployments and continuous development cycles
  • Fintech platforms that process sensitive financial data and require ongoing validation
  • Organisations with compliance requirements that benefit from continuous evidence of security testing
  • Companies scaling rapidly where new features and infrastructure outpace annual test cycles
  • DevOps teams that need security testing integrated into their release workflow

How PTaaS Works

1

Scope and Onboard

Together, we define the scope of your continuous testing programme. Targets, environments, and priorities are established. Your team receives access to the Pentrox Portal, where the entire programme is managed.

2

Continuous Testing

Senior ethical hackers test your applications, APIs, infrastructure, and cloud environments on an ongoing basis. Testing adapts to your release schedule. New features and changes are assessed as they are deployed.

3

Real-Time Findings

Findings are published to the Pentrox Portal as they are validated. Your team sees vulnerabilities as they are confirmed, with severity ratings, evidence, and remediation guidance. Critical findings are communicated immediately.

4

Remediate and Retest

When your team has implemented fixes, you flag the findings for retesting through the portal. The assigned tester verifies each remediation and updates the finding status. Multiple retest cycles are supported until all findings are resolved.

How a PTaaS subscription is sized

PTaaS is a long-term subscription, not a one-time assessment. Each subscription starts with an onboarding phase of 10 to 15 testing days, counted inside the yearly budget. During onboarding, the environment is scoped, the asset surface is mapped, and an initial sweep is performed. The remaining days in the yearly budget are then used to test major code changes and new functionality before each goes live. The three bands below are yearly estimates that show what a subscription typically looks like before the scoping call.

Focused
10 to 20 testing days per year

Suited to organisations with a single web application or API surface and a moderate release cadence. The yearly budget covers onboarding and continuous pre-deploy testing across a stable, well-defined scope.

Extensive
30 or more testing days per year

Suited to enterprise environments, organisations with cloud infrastructure alongside application scope, and organisations with compliance obligations under PCI-DSS v4, NIS2 Article 21, or ISO 27001 Annex A that require documented continuous-testing evidence across multiple frameworks.

Pentrox does not publish list prices. Every subscription is quoted individually after a free scoping call, so the yearly budget matches the asset surface, the deployment cadence, and the compliance requirements. Contact Pentrox to start scoping.

What Is Included

Continuous penetration testing

Ongoing human-led security testing across your applications, APIs, infrastructure, and cloud environments.

Immediate critical notifications

Critical or high-severity findings are communicated immediately upon discovery, so your team can begin remediation without delay.

Professional reporting

Assessment and retest reports available for download from the portal, structured for both technical teams and executive leadership.

Structured retesting

Retesting of remediated findings is part of every cycle, with results tracked per finding in the portal.

Direct communication

Direct access to the ethical hacker performing your testing. No account managers between you and the security expert.

PTaaS Compared with Annual Pentesting

Feature Annual Pentest PTaaS
Testing frequency Once per year Continuous, adapting to your release schedule
New code coverage Only code present during the test window New features and changes tested as they are deployed
Finding delivery Full report delivered weeks after testing Findings published in real time as they are validated
Retesting Separate request, often with additional cost Built into every cycle with structured portal workflow
Tester relationship Different tester each year, limited context Consistent tester who understands your architecture
Visibility No visibility until the report is delivered Real-time dashboard with findings, status, and trend data
